Bio

Character, series- Juri Katou, Digimon Tamers

Digimon parter- No…not straight away, at least, XD;

D-Comm colours- Outline yellow, base and strap white.

Group- None

Character history- At a young age, Juri’s mother died. Over the years her father remarried, however, Juri wasn’t able to empathize with her. Her father also wasn’t able to deal with raising Juri, coming off as cold and severe. It is these events that help trigger Juri’s breakdown later on in the series.

At the start of the series, Juri has a cheerful and happy personality. She’s the first person outside of the primary Tamers to befriend Guilmon. Over time she also becomes interested in the card game and even manages to get quite a few rare cards.

She soon meets Leomon and quickly becomes enchanted by him, chasing him around. He soon leaves, leaving Juri feeling upset. However, Leomon returns shortly after Vikaralamon is defeated and becomes Juri’s partner.
During their time in the Digital World, Juri shows to be a capable Tamer. However, she shows little – if not none – in her abilities.

After the group of Tamers and Digimon, Leomon stops Beelzebumon from killing Kyuubimon. However, this has consequences, as after telling Beelzebumon that simply having power didn’t make him strong, he’s impaled in the stomach. As he dies, he tells Juri to remember him and that she had a lion’s heart; and that this was his destiny.

However, Juri still breaks down. After the group move on from the fight with Beelzebumon, all Juri does is remain silent and look at her D-Ark. As Ruki and Renamon headed into the chasm that the D-Reaper was emerging from, Juri is lead away by her sock puppet. This is the last time that Juri is actually seen in the Digital World, having been taken by the D-Reaper and replaced with the first D-Reaper agent.

During the majority of the battle against the D-Reaper, Juri is held in the D-Reaper’s Kernel Sphere, with Culumon. Eventually, Dukemon and Beelzebumon try to rescue her. However, Beelzebumon’s usage of Beast King Fist makes Juri go into shock and she’s unable to take the chance to escape; leaving Beelzebumon injured and his attempt for redemption futile.

As the D-Reaper tries to keep control of Juri, she stays reclusive until Culumon is able to talk sense into her. She then manages to break the cables restraining her and Culumon, although the latter in unconscious. She realises that Leomon had meant that she had a whole life ahead of her even if his was to end; a hologram of Leomon appearing from her D-Ark affirming this.
During its last attempt, the D-Reaper threatens to absorb Juri and Culumon. It is then that Operation Doodlebug activates, reverting the D-Reaper to a program and allowing Dukemon to save the two.

Just before the Digimon are forced to return to the Digital World, Juri is able to forgive Impmon.

Character personality- After the series end, Juri is able to regain her previous upbeat personality. However, like other adolescents, Juri is prone to periods of sadness, sometimes triggered by events like the dates of her mother and Leomon's death.
